hello, everyone. it's my honor to stand here to give my speech today. what i want to talk about is “ to be honest”.
i believe all of you still remember the event of “sky-high price shrimps” happened in qingdao on october 4th this year, which destroyed the touri** brand of friendly shandong ***pletely. so, there’s no need for me to review the whole thing here. but after the whole thing, i think we have to reflect what honesty is in our modern society.
since we were little kids, we have learned a lot about how to be an honest person from our parents, teachers and traditional chinese stories. being honest means choosing not to lie, steal, or cheat in any way. honesty is the chief and most honored virtue in our country.
although honesty is believed to be a virtue, there are still dishonest people in our society. for example, some busines**en sell fake products to their consumers; some students cheat on exams; some people tell lies to avoid responsibility or avoid being punished.
but in my opinion, dishonest people are short sighted. what they do brings harm not only to others but also to themselves, because as a result of being dishonest, they may lose their fortune or even be sent to prison. in contrast, honest people gain a lot.
what they do brings benefit to others as well as to themselves. those who always tell truth or keep to their promises can win trust and respect from others, because they are trustworthy and respectable. undoubtedly, they will make a great fortune in the end.

because intentions are closely related to fairness and certainly affect the degree of honesty/dishonesty, there is a wide spread confusion about honesty–and a general belief that being dishonest means that one always correctly understands if their behavior is either honest or dishonest. self-perception of our morality is non-static and volatile. it's often at the moment we refuse to consider other perspectives that there is a clear indication we are not pursuing the truth, rather than simply and exclusively at the moment we can muster up evidence that we are right. socrates had much to say about truth, honesty and morality, and explained that if people really understood that their behavior was wrong — then they simply wouldn't do it — by definition. unfortunately, honesty in the western tradition has been marginalized to specific instances — perhaps because a thorough understanding of honesty collides with ideologies of all types. ideologies and idealism often exaggerate and suppress evidence in order to support their perspectives — at the expense of the truth. this process erodes the practice and understanding of honesty. to an ideologist the truth quite often becomes insignificant, what matters most are their ideals and what ever supports their desires to enjoy and spread those ideals.

老师同学们，大家好!
今天我演讲的题目是：诚信是立德之本。言必信“行必果，我国伟大的思想家孔子就曾说过这关与诚信的基本表现”这就是诚信，诚信是我国传统道德文化的重要内容之一，是支撑社会的道德的支点，没有诚信，就不可能有道德，诚者，城信得本义就是要诚实、诚恳、守信、有信“反对隐瞒诈骗，我们中国自古以来就有，文明古国，、礼仪之邦，这些都是我国古代人民道德素质高尚的体现“可是在当今社会”道德素质高尚的人越来越少“而真正做到讲诚信、守 信用的人又有几人呢，假猪肉。
同学们诚信做作业，诚信考试，这是顺应时代的号召，让我们从身边的小事做起，不要让诚信只出现在纸上，成为我们的口头禅，让诚信无处不在。我们的祖国建设将如日中天，如同一轮明月的清辉普照大地，让黑暗变得光明，让世界变得美丽，是诚信，让世界充满生机，让生命充满活力，我还记得一位教师曾经对我说：没有诚信“快乐不长久，地位是虚假的，竞争也是失败的，没有诚信的社会。是一个苍凉而荒芜的社会”我们诚信待人，诚信处事。付出的是真诚和信任，收获的是友谊和尊重，这是一份无形的财富。
如果丧失了对某人的信任，这远远比减少客户人数的损失要大得多，因为信任 是无价的，与信任相比，许多商品偷工减料赚的一大把钱又算什么呢?西周时的周幽王为了讨宠妃褒姒的欢心，不惜以信任为代价烽火戏诸侯，结果换来的是一个国家的覆灭，千万百姓的生灵涂炭。这些例子足以说明，诚信是一个社会维持正常秩序和有效运行的必然要求。
诚信还是做人的基本准则。对于我们来说，诚信是我们青少年 必须具备的优秀品质之一。无论是在学习还是生活中，诚信都是为人处世应当遵循的基本要求。在考试中，是否诚信影响着我们今后的人生方向。倘若在考试中你因为贪图眼前利益，为求得到好成绩而怀着侥幸心理去作弊，被老师发现后后果可能只是单科成绩为零，但是不诚信的后果却是在你的人生路上抹下一道不光彩的印记，这将会影响着你的一生。
我们正处在人生最灿烂的时期，培养诚实守信的优秀品质对于我们来说至关重要。就让我们从现在做起，以诚待人，以诚服人。
诚信是个人的立身之本,民族的存亡之根。诚信对于一个人很重要，对于一个国家则更为重要。一个不讲诚信的个人是社会的危险品，而一个不讲诚信的民族是莫大的悲哀.因此,我们当代大学生更应身体力行,从我做起,把信装在心里。这样才能在不久的将来担负起建设祖国的重任.追溯我们中华民族五千年的文明史，以诚实守信为做人根本的故事比比皆是。商鞅立木取信，获得了百姓信任，季札挂剑了却徐国国君心愿，因失去诚信导致国破家亡的例子也可信手拈来：商纣失信，加速了国家的灭亡;吴三桂失信，留下千古骂名。
